Paceline RT’s Pat Wright is no stranger to the top step of the podium and he once again showed his quality here in Usk as he raced to a time trial victory over 25 miles.

Kieron Davies would have been the favourite before the event but he gave it a miss due to his wife giving birth to his second child.

But Wright, who finished fourth in the 10-mile event on the Saturday, averaged over 30mph aggregated over the two events to win this and take the overall prize.

Organiser of both races and home club rider Will Bevan came second in the 25 in 49.50 and David Poyall of Cwmcarn Paragon Road Club was third in 50.34 – enough to place him second overall and quickest overall veteran.

It was a smaller field than the 10-mile event with 47 finishers across all categories. Joanna Jago of Performance Cycles CC was fastest woman in 58.03 and second quickest was Michelle Fishbourne of Team Backstedt Bike Performance in 59.36. Completing the podium was Hannah Munday of Tri Training Harder in 1:00.32.

Susan Shook of Bush Healthcare CRT was the top overall woman with a combined time of 01:28.51 over the two distances.
