Sam Lindsay topped the men’s category as triathlete Kate Mactear was top woman in the University of Bristol CC’s hill-climb event on Saturday.
The event was settled by a second in the men’s section as Sam Lindsay (73 Degrees CC) claimed his maiden win of the season after crossing the line in 2-45.7.
Lindsay will have been ecstatic to have finally taken the next step in his hill-climbing career after finishing second on six occasions in his last seven races.
Kate Mactear (Univ of Bristol CC) made it a hat-trick of wins for the 2018 season as she stopped the clocks on 3-42.5.
Mactear is a professional triathlete with three podiums on World and European competition already, including a win in the 2017 Kitzbuhel ETU Triathlon European Championships 20-24 category.
The 25-year-old finished 3.8 seconds quicker than Anabell Orenz (North Cotswold CC) in second who clocked 03-46.3 whilst third place went to Joanne Jago (Performance Cycles CC) who was only 0.3 seconds down on Orenz.
Glyndwr Griffiths (73 Degrees CC) finished in fifth overall but captured the veterans prize as he posted a time of 2-53.9.
On the other end of the age spectrum, Joe Baker (Zero BC Development) topped the junior class with a time of 03-02.1, giving him his first top 10 this season – the closest he had previously to a top 10 was last year National Championships where he finished 11th.
