Joanne Jago (Performance Cycles CC) and David Janes (Wheels of Dorset/Aero Testing) finished as quickest female and male riders at the Westbury Wheelers 26-mile time trial in Wiltshire on Saturday morning.

David Janes continued his scintillating form, adding yet another win to his palmares in the 26-mile event in rather comfortable fashion.

Wheels of Dorset rider Janes has now won four in a row and five out of his seven starts in open events in 2018. The win comes off the back of his victory last weekend in the Western Time Trials Association 31-miler.

The 36-year-old Wiltshire native rode the winding course in 54-41 which was 3-07 ahead of second-placed Robert Grover.

As comfortable as Janes’ win was, Grover’s second place was equally so as the Velo Club Walcot rider finished 2-33 quicker than third place with a time of 57-58.

Grover has a had a good last couple of months, finishing no lower than sixth in that time span, recording two second place finishes.

The podium was eventually completed by Tony Chapman (Frome & District Wheelers) who came in just over the hour mark, crossing the line in 1-00-31.

Along with winner Janes, Chapman rode the WTTA 31 last weekend and improved from his sixth place there to clinch the podium this time out. The third place finish on Saturday is Chapman’s best placing since the Severn RC 25 back in February.

Women’s 2016 winner Joanne Jago (Performance Cycles CC) produced the goods once again as she finished as fastest female over the 26-mile distance with a time of 1-08-44 which was good enough to see her finish 17th overall.

Jago has now won three times in her last four races, only being beat once by talented teen Pfeiffer Georgi as she finished second on that occasion. The 37-year-old went on to take her season’s win tally to five in total and four in her last five starts in the Poole Wheelers 26 on Sunday.

In other categories, the fastest junior of the day was Morgan Curle (Giant CC Halo Films) who placed fourth overall with a time of 1-02-15.
