Simon Beldon showed why he wins so many time trials with another dominant performance in the Darlington CC 25 in Leeming on Sunday. Maria Mulleady of Team Swift was first woman with a comfortable victory.
The veteran Team Bottrill – Vanguard rider now has nine wins under his belt this year with other victories including the Adept Cycling 10, the Drighlington RC 25 and the Harrogate Nova RC 15.
Here, he completed the 25 miles in an impressive 50.54, 1.45 quicker than his closest rival, who proved to be Cyclomania’s Richard Dean, himself in decent form with a win in the Yorkshire RC 25 last month.
Dean stopped the clock at 52.39 to take second place by almost a minute with third-placed Darren Yarwood of Vive Le Velo posting a time of 53.32 – enough to make him second fastest veteran. Third fastest veteran was Paul Thirling of Hartlepool CC in 54.00, placing him fourth overall.
Maria Mulleady of Team Swift took the women’s award, completing in a time of 1:05.46. Louise Hamilton of Mountain Goat Coaching was next quickest in 1:08.16 and in third was Darlington CC’s Jo Short in 1:10.56.
