Mark Jones recorded the fastest time at the Whitewebbs CC 10 no Saturday, racing round the Rush Green course well under the 20-minute mark.
With good conditions, this course can be a very fast one, although some riders were affected by winds on the day.
However, Jones, a veteran riding for Drag2Zero, was flying and averaged over 30mph as he sped round in 19.40 to take the win.
Jones has been in good form of late, winning the Hertfordshire Wheelers 10 earlier in June and recording podium finishes in the a3crg and Lee Valley 10s.
One other rider clocked a time under the 20-minute mark and that was Stevenage CC’s Joe Gorman who was 16 seconds slower than Jones with a time of 19.56.
Cambridge CC’s Adam Fisher came third, 39 seconds down on the time of Gorman in 20.35.
Fastest woman on the day was Lutterworth Cycle Centre RT’s Ali Moult who finished 18th out of 35 riders overall with a time of 22.19.
The only other female rider at the event was Karen Dennett of Bishop’s Stortford CC, 34th overall in 27.13.
With a veteran winning the event, it was fourth-placed Mark Ellis of Team Milton Keynes in joint fourth with Team Swindon Cycles’ Leigh Schvartz who was second quickest veteran in 20.59. Third was Jon Surtees of NOPINZ in 21.23.
