Conrad Moss powered to a narrow victory in the Alltrax 25-mile time trial in Devon on Sunday morning, while Vicky Jowett was fastest female.
Moss, the 43-year-old Mid-Devon CC rider from Paignton, clocked 49-06 to win by just 11 seconds from espoir Matt Langworthy (St Piran), while Philip Bray (Plymouth Corinthian CC) was third fastest, more than four minutes behind Conrad’s time.
And in the women’s event victory went to Vicky Jowett, the 34-year-old Plymouth Corinthian CC rider, who covered the S4/25 course in 59-35 to win that category by almost four minutes from Catherine Hilton (Sid Valley CC).
Moss has been in good form so far this season. As well as winning the Alltrax 25, he was victorious in the Mid-Devon CC 10, Alltrax 10 and St Austell Wheelers 25 last month.
This was Jowett’s first open win of the season so far, although she has put in several strong rides.
She clocked 55-18 in the Ogmore Valley Wheelers 25 back in April, while she was second in the City Cycle Couriers 10 two weeks ago, as well as being runner-up in the Exeter Wheelers 17 in April and the Plymouth Corinthian 13 in March.
The S4 course uses the A38, heading from Buckfastleigh up to Chudleigh and back.
