Saint Piran rider Matt Langworthy rode to his second win in 2018 at the Mid-Devon CC 23-mile time trial on a sporting course near Chudleigh on Good Friday.
His time of 54-14 gave him his second victory of 2018 following a win in the City Cycle Couriers RT event back in February.
A 56-second gap separated Langworthy from 18-year-old George Kimber (Team PB Performance) in second spot, and saw Langworthy step up to the top of the podium following a second place finish in 2017.
Kimber’s hasn’t raced in an open time trial since he won the National Junior Hill-Climb Championship, and he will be looking to maintain his recent successes at the Northover VT 10-mile time trial on Easter Monday.
Philip Bray (Plymouth Corinthian CC) completed the top three with a respectable time of 56-44, bettering his previous fourth place finish from 2017.
Claire McKenna (Exeter Triathlon Club) was the only female that started in the field of 36 riders. She finished in 33rd place overall on the challenging 23-mile course.
The course travels along the B3344 near Chudleigh, turning onto the A383 towards Moretonhampstead and then making a full circle from the B3212 to the B3193 along the River Teign and onto the finish line.
Mid-Devon CC’s own Louie Priddle was the fastest junior in the pack, finishing fourth overall ahead of team-mate Harry Birchill who was eight seconds slower and second junior.
Another Mid-Devon CC rider, Ian Cullen posted a time of 57-21 to finish as the fastest veteran, 2-39 ahead of second fastest veteran Andrew Parker (Mid-Devon CC) who clocked exactly one hour.
