Alistair Golby produced a fantastic ride despite far-from-perfect conditions to win the Spalding CC 18 in Edenham on Sunday.
The Cambridge University rider’s time of 40.07 was quickest by a margin of 1.20 with second place going to James Gelthorpe of Velo-One CT.
Home club rider Neil Palmer occupied third spot on the podium, almost two minutes down on Gelthorpe in a time of 42.24.No riders could get near Brett Harwood’s course record of 39.27 set last year.
Hannah Drewett (Pedalcover Insurance) was first woman in 46.59 with Tilly Gurney (Spalding CC) second in 52.29.
Finishing ninth overall, Chris Ward of Team Swift was quickest veteran on standard. The team prize went to Velo-One CT with Gelthorpe’s time combining with those of Antony Gough and Matthew Green.
