John Mulvey (Cambridge University CC) rode home in first place by over a minute with a time of 52.04 in the race just outside of Ugley.

Mulvey’s good start to the season continues after victory in the Ely and District 25 in February and a third placed finish at the Hainault RC Hilly 10 last month.

Finishing 1.19 adrift in second place, Richard Price (London Phoenix CC) has had another good start to the year but couldn’t make it two wins in his last two races and had to settle for runner up with a time of 53.23.

Lee Kennedy (Army Cycling Union) completed the podium with a 57.22. The 25-year-old finished third in his last event but has a busy schedule in May with four planned events.

Anna Muir (Chelmer CC), formerly Dearing was the only female in a relatively small field of 37 starters. The 44-year-old’s time of 1:03.51 saw her finish in a respectable 17th in the overall race.

In the veterans category, Richard Price took the prize for fastest veteran – the 40-year-old led from Simon Daw (Velo Schils Interbike RT) and 42-year-old Richard Carrington (West Suffolk Wheelers).

Anna Muir subsequently was fastest female veteran, finishing 17th overall.

The course is very flat for riders and follows the B1383 north from Quendon all the way to Great Chesterford, negotiating a few sharp right hand turns as they get to the village.

After coming into Little Chesterford, the riders must tackle a small roundabout and follow retrace their path on the B1383 until they reach the finish line just outside of Ugley Green.
