Stuart Travis and Karen Ledger of Team Bottrill-Vanguard continued their form by clinching victories in the BDCA 25 near Uttoxeter.

Roadworks meant that the out and back course along the A50 had to be altered with a shorter loop repeated to make the 25-mile distance.

Travis, 33, from Birmingham, made it four wins out of five for the season clinching victory by over a minute in a time of 47 minutes and 48 seconds.

Travis finished eighth in the National Circuit Championships and seventh in the National 25 Championships and wants to improve his results this campaign.

“The course didn’t feel fast in any direction,” he said.

Karen Ledger.

“The usual course seems a lot faster and the day’s conditions were quite average, so it could have been faster.

“I’ve won four out of five so I’m going alright and I’m heading to a training camp on Wednesday so hopefully I can continue that run when I get back.

“I want to improve my position in the National 25 Championships this year and open circuit Championships and I’ve also entered the National 50 Championships.”

On this occasion Travis beat first veteran Mark Turnbull (TORQ Performance) into second clocking 48.55 while Steven Irwin (North Lancs RC) finished third in 49.29.

Ledger made it a victorious day for Team Bottrill/Vanguard with an emphatic victory by over three minutes in the women’s event.

After finishing 10th in the National 10-Mile Championships and 19th in the National 25 last year Ledger has already tasted victory this season in the City RC 10 last month.

Fiona Sharp (Team Swift) led the rest of the women home clocking a time of 58.54 while Liz Mathison (Leigh Premier CC) clinched third in 59.39.
