Niall Paterson (VC Cumbria) proved fastest as VC Cumbria staged their hill-climb at Winlatter, west of Keswick in Cumbria on Saturday.
Niall, 41 and from Whitehaven, clocked7.25 to take a convincing victory by 27 seconds from junior rider James Noonan (Hoppers Rollers), while Zak Walker (Honister 92) was third, another 16 seconds off Paterson’s pace.
And in the women’s category, there was a tie for the win with Niall Paterson’s wife Susan Paterson (Honister 92) and 19-year-old Penrith-based Henrietta Colborne (Swabo Ladies) both clocking 9.28, while third was Charlotte Gorman (Team Lusso), another 25 seconds back.
Paterson’s win was the latest in a string of good results, although it was his first open hill-climb victory of the season. He placed third in the Catford CC climb last Sunday, and was similarly third in the Lancaster CC climb at Conder Bottoms in September.
After riding the Muckle CC climb next Sunday, Paterson is preparing to ride the National Championships at Hedley on the Hill on October 29.
