Junior rider Lyster Romero (TBW Bottecchia Wgmore RT) took a clear victory by nearly a minute in the Plomesgate CC 10, while Denise Hurren (Sole Bay Cycle Sport) won the women’s category.
Romero’s winning time of 20 minutes 32 seconds in windy conditions was enough for victory from 17-year-old Lucas He (VC Baracchi) who clocked 21.25.
Taking third place was host club rider Matt O’Brien in 21.39, while Chris Dyason 23:32 (Cambridge CC) was fastest veteran on standard with a +5.20.
The B10/36R course saw riders face a head-wind as they travelled down the A12 in Suffolk between Wickham Market and Melton before making the return journey.
Romero, 18, finished third junior in the National 25 Championships last month and also took victory in the Anglia Velo in a personal best of 20.20.
His winning time was somewhat short of the 19.22 course record set by Lloyd Chapman last year.
Hurren came much closer to her own women’s course record with her winning time of 24.15 just 31 seconds slower than the 23.44 she clocked during the Stowmarket & District 10 last month.
She also took victory on that occasion and in the Kings Lynn CC 30.
Fastest tandem was John Swanbury & Allistair Banks (VC Baracchi) who finished in 23.02, while Plomesgate CC won the team prize consisting of: Matt O'Brien, Jack Hardwicke and Jim Hardwicke.
