Norledge and Jago power to victories in Somerset RC hill climb
Joe Norledge (Bristol South CC) and Joanne Jago (Performance Cycles) powered their way to clinch victories in the Somerset RC hill climb.
The UHC23 climb in the Quantock Hills, Somerset, is one mile long and has a gradient of 7.6 percent.
Norledge who finished 19th in the National Hill Climb Championships last season just missed out on victories on several occasions during his last campaign.
He made no mistake this time clocking a winning time of four minutes and 37 seconds, which was enough for victory by two seconds.
In a close contest for placings Andrew Kirby (University of Bristol CC) finished second in 4.39 less than a second quicker than Josh Coyne (Okehampton CC) in third.
Jago powered up the climb to take the women’s victory clocking a winning time of 5.32, some 12 seconds quicker than Hannah Slade (Chippenham & District Wheelers).
