Davies and Shook take Cardiff victories
Scott Davies (Team Wiggins) and Sue Shook (Bush Healthcare) took the honours in the Cardiff Miles RCC 10-mile time trial in South Wales on Sunday.
Davies, the 22-year-old from Carmarthen who has ridden UCI road races abroad for much of this season, clocked an impressive 18-34 to take the win by 2-25 from his nearest rival Chris Massey (Team Bottrill), while Carwyn Davies (Cwmcarn Paragon RC) also clocked 20-59.
Davies – who rode for Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow - is the reigning National Under-23 Champion, having won it for the last four years, and is aiming to secure a contract with a fully professional team for next season.
Fastest female was Susan Shook (Bush Healthcare CRT) who covered the R10/17 course in 23-54, while second fastest woman was her team-mate at Bush Healthcare Clare Greenwood who was 1-15 slower.
The 2016 event winner, Shook was 43 seconds slower on a testing day than she was 12 months previously, although she has clocked 23-26 for the course this season when she rode to third in the Ross on Wye 10 in July.
More recently she was second in the Sportzmad 10 on August 1, while she was third in the Port Talbot Wheelers 10 on July 11.
The course takes riders along the A40 from just east of Llanellen eastwards to Raglan and back, to the south of Abergavenny.
