Bournemouth Arrow held their 10-mile event on Saturday, dubbed the Chris Braiden 10 in memory of their former member who passed away.

Tom Temple of Primera-Teamjobs was the fastest rider on the day, completing the course in 21.08. He was 30 seconds quicker than second-place Shawn Grey, representing Gillingham and District Wheelers in 21.38.

It was a first open win for Temple, who at the age of 18 looks to have a bright future ahead of him.

Veteran rider Brendan Reese was third on the podium, clocking a time of 21.41 to ensure a rider from the organising club went home with a medal.

Emma Needham of CC Weymouth won the women’s category with a time of 24.49, finishing quicker than Bournemouth Arrow duo of Michelle Walter in 25.56 and Debbie Hallett in 27.25.

The event raised £162 for Cancer Research in memory of Chris and his family were involved in the running of the event.

His daughter Amelia started at number one in the 2-up competition – her first competitive event. She partnered up with Ulric Conway to ride for Bournemouth Arrow and they completed in 28.48 to finish in seventh.

Simon Healey and Matthew Buckley of Andover Wheelers won the 2-up event with a time of 21.15. Lyndon Thompson and Ray Claridge of New Forest CC were second in 22.22 and Drew Hosie and Darryl Barr of a3crg were third in 22.58.
