Platts clinches victory in Trent Valley RT 10
Geoff Platts (Team Bottrill/HSS Hire) took a convincing victory in the Trent Valley RT 10, winning by 26 seconds.
The 62-year-old, from Loughborough, charged around the undulating out and back course in a winning time of 21 minutes and 36 seconds.
Competitors had a headwind during the outward journey of the time trial on the lumpy terrain near Lincoln before turning for home and having a downhill finish.
Ian Dalton (Cherry Valley RT) was Platts’ closest rival finishing in 22.02 while Ian Rosewarne (Leicestershire RC) took third in 22.35.
On a day when the top nine riders were veterans 15-year-old Archie Hollingsworth (Tuxford Clarion CC) finished in 24.26 which was good enough for 13th overall.
Local rider Samantha Ritson (Trent Valley RT) was the sole woman rider finishing in 29.40.
