Chris Fennell (Thanet Road Club) and Pip Jenkins (Southborough and District Wheelers) powered to victory in the Kent CA 10 on Saturday as the fastest male and female rider respectively.

Fennell, 21 and from Thanet, clocked 19.41 to beat brother and team-mate Nic Fennell by just over a minute on the Q10/42 closed circuit at Fowlmead which was covered almost five times to make up the ten-mile distance.

Meanwhile, Pip Jenkins (Southborough and District Wheelers) continued her good recent form as she was once again the fastest female, covering the distance in 23.32 to beat Nicola Goodban (Thanet RC) by 42 seconds.

Fennell’s victory is the latest of many victories he has secured in open time trials so far this year. In fact he has only once been beaten, by Keith Murray in the West Kent RC 10 back in April.

Since then he has won the Thanet RC two-up 9.5-mile time trial and Kent CA 10 in April, while in May he was victorious in the De Laune CC 25 and Bigfoot CC 25, while he won the Kent CA 50 last month and the VTTA Kent 10 last weekend.

And for fastest female Pip Jenkins, her win takes to four the number of open victories she has secured so far in 2017.

The 29-year-old from Tunbridge Wells was the fastest woman in the Sussex CA 50 last weekend and the Kent CA 50 last month, as well as the East Sussex CA 25 in April.

The event also included a regional heat of the National Youth Championships.

Ieuan Woods (Banks-Catford-Equipe) was fastest with 21.30, the 16-year-old being 1-47 quicker than runner-up Toby Anderton (VC Deal). Meanwhile, first girl was Toni Jade Wilkes (Kent Velo RT) with 25.12.
