Matt Sinclair and Karen Taylor were the overall men’s and women’s winners at the Sleaford Wheelers 15-mile event on Sunday.

The event took place on the A52, with the 49 finishers on the day starting and ending their race in the village of Threekingham.

It was prolific time-trialist Sinclair that came out on top overall with a comfortable victory in the end.

The Lutterworth Cycle Centre man was last to set off and he blitzed the field, stopping the clock in a time of 30.30, giving him a comfortable winning margin of over one minute.

Sinclair just missed out on the top spot in his more recent events with a couple of second places last month but has still been in excellent form in 2017.

This victory over the unconventional 15-mile distance added to triumphs at the 10-mile Matlock CC event in April and the Coalville Wheelers 10 in March.

Ian Guilor (Mapperley CC) was the first veteran, and backed up his victory in the Witham Wheelers 10 last weekend with a second-place finish on Sunday, whilst Jonathan Wears (SSLL Racing Team) was third to complete the podium a further 58 seconds back.

Karen Taylor (Vertex Biemme RT) took victory in the women’s category with an impressive ride which saw her secure a winning margin of more than two minutes.

The veteran stopped the clock at 37.38 and secured 18th place overall, whilst nearest rival Louise Day (Team Swift) was second in a time of 39.44.

Thomas Howes was the fastest junior, his time of 39.47 was just one place and three seconds behind Day to claim the prize for the host team Sleaford Wheelers.
