Peterborough CC’s Paul Pardoe and CC Ashwell vet Jackie Field were the fastest man and woman on the N1/15 near Alconbury, Cambridgeshire, where the Northampton and District CA staged their latest time trial on Saturday.
Pardoe, 36 and from Peterborough, clocked 33.22 to take the win overall by exactly one minute from veteran Michiel Vaal (Team Bottrill), while Kevin Hobbs (Peterborough CC) was third, 1-21 behind Pardoe’s pace.
Meanwhile Jackie Field - the overall winner of the veteran women’s category at the Knight Composites Classic TT Series this season – was fastest female at Alconbury, clocking 36.48 to beat team-mate and runner-up Emma Koppe (CC Ashwell) by 2-49.
Pardoe’s victory was his first of the season, but it has been on the cards for a while with several good performances already in 2017.
In May he placed third in the Northampton and District CA 16, while he was second in the NDCA 10 earlier that month.
The Northampton and District CA TT Series is a big target for Pardoe this season. In 2016 he was second, and won the short distance league, so he is aiming to do the double in the series this season.
Also a target for Pardoe is the Gran Fondo World Championships at the end of August, which he qualified for at the Tour of Cambridgeshire last weekend.
Meanwhile, Jackie Field has also been consistently strong so far in 2017, and successfully defended her win in the NDCA 15 from 12 months ago.
As well as wrapping up the overall win in the veteran women’s category of the Knight Composites Classic TT Series, she was second in the final round and National Circuit Championships on Sunday, where she was just four seconds away from being the fastest veteran woman, and seventh overall.
As well as the national series, Field is also targeting the Northampton and District CA time trial series, and has been fastest female at the first five rounds, with four remaining later in the summer.
