After several podium places already this season, Ian Guilor (Mapperley CC) finally took his first open win as he clocked 20-57 over the C10/10 to win the Witham Wheelers time trial near Sleaford in Lincolnshire on Sunday.
The veteran rider took the win by 51 seconds from junior Harry Buxton (THRE Datawolves RT), while the podium was completed by Mark Cotton (VC Lincoln), who was another 26 seconds adrift.
Meanwhile, fastest female rider was the promoting club’s Carol Milne (Witham Wheelers) who covered the course in 27.53.
Among Guilor’s results so far this season have been second place in the Burton and District CA 10 last month, as well as second in the VTTA National 15-mile Championship and the VTTA Nottingham and East Midlands 10 in April.
He was also second in the Bolsover and District CC 10 in March, while he placed third in April’s Sleaford Wheelers charity 10.
Although she was 18 seconds slower than in the same event 12 months earlier, Carol Milne moved up from fifth in 2016 to win the women’s event this time.
