Victory for Kerin and Coyle in Shaftesbury CC 25
Deborah Coyle (VC Elan) and Matt Kerin (Oxford University CC) were fastest female and male riders as Shaftesbury CC staged a 25-mile time trial for middlemarkers with an entry time of 57.00 or slower over the last three seasons.
Coyle, 41 and from Romford in Essex, covered the distance in 57.04 to finish 23rd overall in a large field of 150 riders for the event on the E2/25 course which covered the A11 from Studlands Park to the north of Newmarket, heading south west to Four Wentways roundabout near Little Abington and back.
Meanwhile 20-year-old Kerin clocked 52.47 to take the win by nine seconds from Ross Freeman (Harlow CC), while veteran Jon Puleston-Jones (Dulwich Paragon CC) was another 15 seconds adrift in third spot.
Among Kerin’s previous performances in 17th in the British Universities and Colleges Sport National 25-mile Championships near Stetchworth in April, where his time of 56.33 was good enough for 17th on a challenging course.
And for Coyle, this victory comes a week after she took third spot in the Eastern Counties CA 25-mile Championships.
