Richard Dean (Team Swift) and Alex Deck (Rutland CC) were fastest man and woman at the BBM Revolution 10-mile time trial on the V910 near Ferrybridge, West Yorkshire, on Sunday.
Dean, 38 and from Cudworth near Barnsley, clocked 21.46 to take victory by 20 seconds from John Brearley (City RC Hull), and Stewart Gormley (Team Swift) who shared second spot with 22.06 each.
And Deck, the 49-year-old veteran rider from Chesterfield, notched up another win in the women’s category with a time of 24.48, giving her the win on the day by just 12 seconds from Fiona Sharp (York Cycleworks).
It marked an improvement in time of 35 seconds for Dean, and sees him step up from second place in last year’s same event. And for 2016 winner Alex Deck, it was an improvement of 42 seconds on her time from that same event 12 months earlier.
The course takes riders from just north of Brotherton, over the A1 on the A1246 and onto the A63 before turning at the junction with the A656 near the outskirts of Kippax, and retraces.
For Richard Dean, the win comes on the back of other strong performances this season. Seven days earlier he had won the Bridlington CC 25, while in April he was victorious in the Stocksbridge CC 21-mile time trial.
And Alex Deck is also in good form at the moment. She was also fastest female in the mid-week Rutland CC 11.3-mile event four days prior to her win in the BBM Revolution event, while in April she was fastest woman in the Veterans TTA 10-mile event at Long Bennington, Leicestershire.
