Lewis Duff of GTR took first place in the 10-mile Glasgow United CC event on the WW10/02 course in Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire on Saturday. He clocked a time of 22.09 to win.
It was a first win of the season for Duff although he didn’t come close to beating his personal best – a time of 21.20 set in the Glasgow Nightingale event last year.
It was a victory which came by the narrowest of margins with the veteran Duff just one second quicker than second-placed Ross Clark of Dooleys RT who completed in 22.10.
Clark’s Dooleys team mate Paul McLafferty completed the podium, seven seconds down on Clark in 22.17. Isobel Fletcher took the women’s prize, the VC Glasgow South rider completing in 29.19.
The course also hosted the National Youth 10-mile Championships of Scotland and Alexander Dent of Nevis Cycles RT was quickest in 22.40. Anna Shackley of Glasgow Ivy CC was fastest female in a time of 27.52.
