Michael Stretch and Monica Dew were the winners at the Racing Chance Foundation 25 on Saturday afternoon.
Several riders chose not to start the race on the one and a half lap course just west of Macclesfield, with heavy rain showers before and during the event.
It was 42-year-old Stretch (Macclesfield Wheelers) who topped the pile though, his time of 58.18 gave him a slender four-second victory as well as the highest place veteran.
Stretch’s time was 43 seconds faster than his effort on the exact same course last month at the Withington Wheelers 25 where he finished in 30th position.
Adam Darby was second for Salford Cycling Club whilst Wigan Wheelers CC rider Daniel Burrows completed the top three, one minute 13 second off the pace set by Stretch.
Monica Dew was the fastest female rider on the day and a strong showing saw her claim fifth place in the overall standings.
Dew (Storey Racing), who has raced in the Knight Composite Classic this season, stopped the clock in a time of 1:00.33 which was three minutes faster than any other woman on the course, second going to host team rider Natasha Smith.
