Tom Rigby powered to an impressive win in the 29-mile Border City Wheelers event held near Dalston on Sunday.

The 28-year-old, representing Springfield Financial RT, completed in 1:08.11, 1.54 ahead of second-placed Richard Bickley of the organising team.

Bickley, 34, made sure Border City Wheelers saw one of their own riders on the podium with a ride of 1:10.05.

Barrow Central Wheelers’ David Huck was over a minute down on Bickley in third, completing in 1:11.33.

Craig Horseman of Rock to Roll took home the veteran prize, stopping the clock at 1:13.13 to finish fifth overall.

In an outstanding performance, Beacon Wheelers’ Archie Irving, aged just 14, completed in 1:14.07 to finish seventh overall and bag the juvenile prize. Peter Greenwood, 65, finished eighth with 1:16.31.

Molly Horsley Frost (Buxton CC/Sett Valley Cycles) was first woman in 1:27:01 with Samantha Wilson (Beacon Wheelers) second in 1:29:33 and Carol Westmorland (Border City Wheelers CC) third in 1:30.15.
