Adam Duggleby’s excellent start to 2017 continued as he secured yet another victory at the Otley CC 25.

The 2016 Paralympic Games gold medal winner rode just 24 hours before alongside his Rio partner Steve Bate, but he was in a class of his own on the two-lap Boroughbridge course on Sunday.

Last to set off, the Vive Le Velo man blitzed the field and stopped the clock at 51.54 which secured him a winning margin of one minute and three seconds.

This latest triumph is another one to add to this years’ collection for the 32-year-old from Leeds, which includes wins and course records at both the Malton Wheelers 10.5 and the Ilkley CC 10 last month.

Another rider who has been in consistent form this season is Steve Ayres (Bronte Wheelers), he rode into second this time.

A time of 52.57 ensured he added to his previous podiums this year at the Harrogate Nova 24 and the Border City Wheelers 20 in March.

Philip Graves (Nopinz) has been off of the top two steps of the podium in 2017 and has six wins already including victory in each of his last five time trials.

He had to settle for third this time around however, missing out on second to Ayres by just a single second at 52.58

Eighth place Paul Thirling claimed the veteran 40+ prize despite Ian Mitchelson (Albarosa CC) recording the fastest time on the day, the latter earning prize money thanks to a strong fifth place finish overall.

Eleanor Haresign (Torq Performance) was in equally dominant form in the women’s competition, a time of 1:04:36 gave her a winning margin over her rivals of nearly four minutes.

Fourth place Mark Wolstenholme and sixth place Richard Dean were part of the winning team on the day, along with Julian Read their combined time of 2:49.19 gave them the team prize.

Also amongst the prize winners were Joe Howcroft (PH-MAS Cycling) in the junior category, Sam Howcroft of the hosts team Otley CC in the juvenile category, and for John and Julie Smithies (Cyclesense CC) in the tandem race.
