One Pro Cycling’s Thomas Baylis made a rare time trial appearance and marked it with a win at the 23-mile Mid-Devon CC even on Good Friday.

The 21-year-old, is primarily a road racer with perhaps his best result being third in the National Championships.

But here, he showed he was just as able in a different discipline as powered round the course in a time of 51.11 to take victory.

The organising club managed to place two riders on the podium with Matt Langworthy finishing second to Baylis in a time of 52.31. Junior rider Harrison Wood completed the top three with a time of 55.42.

The top veteran rider on the day was another Mid-Devon member, Lee Sanderson finishing sixth overall in a time of 58.11.

Natalie Grinczer (Team WNT Pro Cycling) was fastest woman, averaging 21mph to finish 30th overall in 1:05.26.

Zoe Betteridge of Southfork Racing.co.uk was second in 1:08.00 and in third it was Rebecca Cornwell (Taw Velo) 1:08.54.
