James Copeland (Fareham Wheelers) and Caitlin Peters (i-Team CC) were the fastest men and women as Fareham Wheelers staged a 10-mile time trial on the P829a course, using the sporting Southwick to Portsdown Hill course in Hampshire.

Copeland clocked 21.48 to take the win by six seconds from Tom Pritchard (Hampshire Road Club), while the men’s podium was completed by Mitch Webber (Andover Wheelers), 57 seconds slower than Copeland’s winning pace.

And i-Team CC rider Caitlin Peters was the fastest female, the junior clocking 25.23 to break the course record.

The road bike category was won by Sarum Velo’s Craig Wallington with a time of 23.20, which would’ve put him in the top ten of the time trial bikes result.

His time was good enough to win the road bike category by more than a minute from Sotonia CC’s James Peckham, with Darryl Rice (South Downs Bikes) third, another 29 seconds back with 24.57.

For Copeland, the win is not his first of the season having tasted victory in the VC St Raphael 18-mile time trial back in February.

Road bike winner Craig Wallington has already gained several good results in the same category this season.

He won the Andover Wheelers 24-mile road bike event on February 26, and was second in both the VC St Raphael hardriders 18 and Sotonia CC 14.3-kilometre races – again, both on standard road bikes.
