Karen Ledger (Rutland CC) and Joel Wainman (SSLL Racing Team) were the fastest woman and man respectively as the Veterans TTA (North Midlands) staged a 14.7-mile time trial in North Nottinghamshire on Saturday.
The course took the 43 starters from Cuckney north towards Worksop, west to Whitwell and Clowne and back down to Cuckney.
It was covered quickest by 42-year-old Wainman from Hull, who clocked 32.07 to take the win by 35 seconds from Peak Road Club rival Steve Gibson, while Daniel Barnett (Team Bottrill) completed the podium in third, just three seconds further back.
And in the women’s event Ledger took the win with a time of 35.40, which proved 2-31 quicker than the next best female in Sheffield Tri Club’s Sarah Harrison.
It was victory number one for 2017 for Wainman, who had several strong performances in 2016 including victory in the Cleveland Coureurs 25 on July as well as clocking 19.26 in the Team Jadan 10 on the fast V718 course.
For Ledger, her solo win comes after she had teamed up with husband Chris Ledger as the fastest team with a woman in Sheffrec CC’s two-up 10-mile event at Hatfield Woodhouse, South Yorkshire, last weekend.
