The promoting club’s own Ashley Towey (Mid-Devon CC) proved fastest in the first of two hill-climbs organised by Mid-Devon CC on Saturday.
The junior rider clocked 15.01 to win by six seconds on the 3.125-mile climb of Haytor near Bovey Tracey, while George Fowler (NFTO) was second and James Cartlidge (Plymouth Corinthian CC) third, a further 31 seconds back.
Wiebke Rietz (1st Chard Wheelers) was the fastest female, clocking 19.54 to win by 33 seconds from Jenny Corser (Mid-Devon CC).
Towey and Fowler then both went on to ride the Widecombe climb later the same day, where their positions were reversed (see separate report) while Rietz was again the fastest woman.
