James Boyman (Farnham Road Club) added another event to his list of 2016 victories when he proved fastest in the Sotonia CC 23-kilometre time trial near Salisbury in Wiltshire on Sunday.
The 27-year-old covered the P183 course near Hamptworth Golf Course in 32.49 to take victory by almost a minute from Fareham Wheelers’ Gary Chambers, with the podium being rounded off by Stephen Whitewick (VeloRefined Aerosmiths), another couple of minutes off the pace.
Faye Faber (IoW Cycling Club) was the fastest female with a time of 39.56 to scrape under the 40-minute mark, while second place in that category was 14-year-old Caitlin Peters (i-Team CC), who was second in last weekend’s GHS Championship Finals. Her time of 40.38 was a minute and a half ahead of the third fastest female, Michelle Walter (Bournemouth Arrow CC).
Boyman’s win was the latest in a string of victories from a successful 2016 season. As well as finishing in the top ten at the National 10-mile championships, his list of victories include the Alton CC 25 and Charlotteville CC 10 in September, the Sussex CA 10 and North Hampshire CC 25 in August, the Epsom CC 10 and Newbury RC 15 in July and the Farnham Road Club 25 in June.
