Ben Elliott (Paceline RT) snatch victory by just 14 seconds in the Bec CC 25.
Despite a nasty breeze which knocked some rider's times, Ben Elliott rose to the occasion and clocked 52 minutes and 56 seconds for victory.
The G25/54 course is the fastest in South London but still see riders have to navigate several roundabouts on the A264 between Horsham and Crawley, an out-and-back circuit which riders complete twice.
Elliott, riding for Paceline RT, headed a tightly packed field for the win which saw the top five riders all finish within a minute of the winner.
Alex Napier (Blazing Saddles) set a time of 53.10 which was enough for second while Conall Yates (In-Gear Quickvit RT) snatched third with a 53.25- just four seconds faster than Steve Dennis (East Grinstead CC).
The veteran's competition was another close contest with Napier fastest overall and 53-year-old Dennis the fastest on standard by just six seconds.
Ruth Summerford (Velopace) had a more comfortable victory in the women's category clocking a time of 1:02.13.
