Versatile Jonathan Parker (Team Bottrill) raced to victory in the VTTA (East Anglia) 25-mile time trial on the fast E2/25 course near Newmarket in Cambridgeshire, clocking 47.54.
The 42-year-old, who won the Sussex CA 50 earlier this month and also placed 19th in the National 100, was more than three minutes ahead of his nearest rival in the event, David Langlands (Fenland Clarion) with 50.58, while Dave Green (Team Velovelocity) took third, another 18 seconds back.
His time was an improvement of 1-03 on the time that Parker set in the previous year’s event.
The women’s event was won by Denise Hurren, the 51-year-old Sole Bay Cycle Sport rider who clocked 58.28 to win by just seven seconds from Julia Freeman (Easterley Road Club).
And the fastest tandem was Dean Lubin and John Iszatt of Team Vision Racing who clocked an impressive 51.36.
In the veterans on standard category, Parker was the winner again with a plus of 18.32, while Dave Green was 1-22 behind in second and third spot went to 86-year-old Peter Horsnell (Chelmer CC) with a plus of 17.09, coming from an impressive actual time of 1:11.16.
Fastest woman veteran on standard was Julia Freeman with 15.20.
