Robbie Krygsman took victory by exactly two minutes in his own club’s event, the Team Swift 50-mile event near Melbourne in East Yorkshire on Sunday morning.

The 54-year-old, from nearby Drax, clocked 1:51.16 to take the win from Richard Sharp (York Cycleworks), while the podium was completed by Ian Mitchelson (AlbaRosa CC) who was a further two and a half minutes off the pace.

Having placed second in the solo event at Rossington Wheelers 10 last weekend as well as winning the Birdwell Wheelers 10 in May, Krygsman showed he can ride all manner of different distances as he powered to the win over the V350 course which used roads between Selby and Pocklington.

Team Bottrill’s Kerry Gowland clocked 2:13.13 to win the women’s prize by little more than a minute from York Cycleworks rival Jessica Bacon, while Helen Goldthorpe (Otley CC) took third in that category.

The event was one of three organised at the same time by Team Swift, with the 100-mile and 12-hour events being covered in separate reports on the CTT website.
