Matt Sinclair (Lutterworth Cycle Centre) stormed to victory in a convincing 49.51, and was the only man under the 50-minute mark in the Verulam CC 25-mile time trial staged on the F1 course near Tempsford in Bedfordshire on Sunday morning.
The 37-year-old took the win ahead of TMG Horizon brothers Luke and Ross Clarke, with Luke taking second with 51.50 while Ross was third with 52.36.
Bedfordshire Roads RC rider Emily Cox clocked an impressive 55.57 to easily win the women’s category and place seventh overall, while top junior rider was the promoting club’s own Luke Houghton (Verulam CC) with 1:00.58, just two seconds ahead of his nearest rival Cody Nelson (Bedfordshire Roads CC).
Sinclair’s time was more than a minute better than his winning time in last August’s Finsbury Park CC event on the same course, and was the latest in a string of wins including the Sleaford Wheelers 25 earlier this month as well as victory in the Matlock CC 10 in June.
