Radeon-Bike Science rider Ryan Witchell edged to victory in the Islington CC 10 on Saturday afternoon, his time of 20.38 giving him the win by 11 seconds on the F15/10 course near Brogborough in Bedfordshire.
Witchell, who clocked 20.11 and placed fourth in the Team Sales Engine 10 on nearby roads a fortnight earlier, covered this course from Brogborough to Wootton and back in 20.38 to beat second-placed James Fox (CC Luton), while third spot went to Dave Elliott (Rugby Racing CC) with 21.12.
The women’s prize went to Liz Powell (Mike Vaughan Cycles) who clocked 22.12 to win that category by more than a minute from AeroCoach rival Victoria Smith with 23.23, while St Ives CC rider Jennie Tillott placed third with exactly 25 minutes.
And in the tandem event, victory went to the mixed composite pairing of Nikki Hunt (VTTA London and Home Cos) and Brian Foran who clocked 23.35 to win by 1-06 from Leamington C&AC duo Steve and Christine Walker.
