Former National 24-hour champion Jonathan Shubert (Arctic Tacx) showed his versatility over shorter distances when he won Finsbury Park CC’s 50-mile time trial on the F1b/50 near Tempsford in Bedfordshire on Sunday.
His time of 1:46.21 gave him the win by just 26 seconds from Luke Clarke (TMG Horizon CT), whose brother Ross took third, only three seconds further off the pace.
The battle for the podium places was really only between those three riders, as the fourth-placed rider – the promoting club’s Julian Elliott (Finsbury Park CC) was more than two minutes further back, while John Lacey (Hemel Hempstead CC) was over eight minutes off Shubert’s pace in fifth.
Hitchin Nomads’ Leanne Cutler was the best of the women with 2:20.22, giving her the win in that category by almost half an hour from Christina Lankford (Cambridge Tri Club).
