In-form Keith Murray (drag2zero) clocked the fastest ever 25-mile time on Yorkshire Roads as he powered to victory in the Yorkshire Road Club 25 in a course record time of 47.46.
The 41-year-old from Darlington took the win by 49 seconds, despite being hounded by an irate driver during part of his run which forced him to take evasive action.
It was Murray’s third win in a week following victory in the midweek Barnesbury CC 25 and last weekend’s North Tyneside Riders 25, and is his second 47-minute 25-mile time following second spot in the Adept Precision 25 last weekend.
Second spot went to Adam Duggleby (Secret Training CC), while Mark Thaxter (HD Revolutions) took third with 49.59.
York Cycleworks’ Jessica Bacon was an easy winner of the women’s prize with 56.15, giving her the win by 2-15 from Rachael Mellor (Holmfirth CC), while Kirsty Smith (Team Swift) was third, another 13 seconds adrift.
The team prize went to Team Swift who placed four riders in the top ten, their winning trio being made up on Nick Rogers in fourth, Stewart Gormley in fifth and Lawrence Burrows in seventh.
