Third in the previous week’s Kent CA 50, Daniel Tolhurst (PMR at Toachim House) took a narrow victory in the Kent CA 100 near Kingsnorth on Sunday.
Tolhurst clocked 3:42.10 to win by just 13 seconds from Chris Fennell (Thanet RC) who had won the previous week’s 50 with a course record time. But two punctures for Fennell hindered his progress.
The podium was completed by veteran Andrew Meilak (VeloRefined-Aerosmiths) who was 1-38 slower than Tolhurst, while other riders to go under the four-hour mark included fourth-placed Neil Lauder (4T+ Velo), vet Mike Piper (Abalio-SFA RT) in fifth and Fennell’s team-mate Simon Henderson (Thanet Road Club).
Despite rain and wind in the later part of the race the event went well, although nine riders – including the only tandem entry – didn’t finish.
