Prolific road and time trial winner James Gullen (Pedal Heaven) swooped to a convincing victory in the Lancaster CC 10 on Saturday evening, staged on the L1015 near Levens in Cumbria.
Gullen, who won the 2015 renewal of the event, once again left Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC) to pick up second.
This time, Gullen clocked 18.18 to take the win by exactly one minute from Bideau, while Derek Parkinson (Springfield Financial) completed the podium in third with 19.22, 21 seconds ahead of his team-mate David Allonby in fourth.
Gullen, 26 and from Leeds, was head and shoulders above his rivals as he powered along the course which takes riders along the A590 from Levens, south towards Grange-over-Sands before heading back north.
Gina Riley (Chester RC) was the fastest female in 22.11, 49 seconds ahead of Vanessa Whitfield (The Racing Chance Foundation).
Among Gullen’s other wins this season are the North West Road Race Championship, the Wigan Wheelers 10 on the nearby Garstang course in April, and the City RC 10 on the V718 course where he set a blistering 17.51.
He also won the West Pennine RC hilly 14 back in March, as well as the classic Circuit of Pendle 28 and the Rossendale CC hilly 11 in February.
