Sandy Gourley (Penzance Wheelers) set a new course record time for the S45/19s course in Cornwall, clocking 43.56 to win on the day by over a minute from his nearest rival.

The 40-year-old took the win ahead of Plymouth Corinthian CC’s Philip Bray with 45.06, while Anthony Green (St Austell Wheelers) was third with 46.49.

Crystal Spearman (NOPINZ) took the women’s prize with 51.03, the 28-year-old’s time being over five minutes ahead of the next best female, veteran Rose Willis (St Austell Wheelers).

St Austell Wheelers were celebrating victory in the junior category with 17-year-old Luke Craddock clocking 54.53. St Austell also won the team prize with Anthony Green being joined in the winning trio by Willian Hatton and Nick French, fifth and sixth respectively, overall.

Among Gourley’s other results this season are a win in the Penzance Wheelers 120 in April, while he was third in both the St Austell Wheelers 21 and 50 in March and May respectively. He also placed second in the Lanhydrock Wheelers 22 in February.
