Ron Hallam (South Pennine RC) took victory on standard at the VTTA National 10 on the A10/14A at Long Bennington, Leicestershire on Saturday with a time of +6:41.
The 85-year-old VTTA Notts and East Mids rider, who finished with an actual time of 27:06, won by just 16 seconds from runner-up Bronwen Ewing (Rye and District Wh) who finished with a time of +6.25.
Female rider Ewing’s actual time was 22:29 but fell just short of Hallam on standard, with Brian Sunter (Condor RC) taking third with a time of +6.18.
In the women’s race Karen Ledger (Langsett Cycles RT) finished as runner-up to Ewing on +5.42 whilst Alison Vessey (Mickey Cranks CC) was third on +5:01.
The tandem race was won by Jeff Bowler and David Bates (South Pennine RC) whilst group prize went to Ron Hallam, Ian Guilor and Nick Cave of Notts & East Mids, who narrowly defeated Kent after rider Kevin Tye took a wrong turn.
