Ryan Perry produced a fantastic ride in difficult circumstances to complete the famous V718 course just eight seconds shy of a record time.

The Langdale Lightweights rider faced windy conditions but still managed to power along the fastest 10-mile course in the country in 17.53, 1.30 faster than Team Bottrill’s George Evans.

Although riders were able to reach high speeds on the way out, the return section of the course was battered by strong winds, making competitive times difficult.

But as well as Perry’s incredible achievement, four other riders went under the 20-minute mark with George Evans clocking a time of 19.27 and in third, Jamie Haines of Melton Olympic completed in 19.35.

Richard Sharp (York Cycleworks) and Dan Evans (Team Elite) completed the five sub-20 times with a 19.52 and a 19.54 respectively.

Michelle Seddon (TORQ Performance) was fastest woman in a time of 22.06 and Danuta Tinn (Maidenhead & District CC) was second with 22.40. Michelle Bailey (Vision Racing) completed the podium in 24.42.
