Peter Lawrence opened his account for his new club, High Wycombe CC, with a comfortable win in 51:21 in the West London CA 25 on Sunday.

Ben Allen (Westerley CC) was second, over two minutes down on the flying Lawrence. Whilst the time may have been quick, the conditions were anything but.

The event got off to a very cold start, with the mercury just nudging up above freezing. It was a beautifully bright, very cold morning, but not the kindest day for the competitors, most of whom were in leg and knee warmers and full finger gloves.

Tim Beaven (Bicester Millennium CC) took the final spot on the podium in 54:45, 9 seconds ahead of previous 24 hour champion, Stuart Birnie (Willesden CC) who views the course as ‘cursed’; “I Finally went under the hour... at 100-mile power!” Back to the long stuff for Birnie.
