Prolific time trial winner Danny Axford (Arctic Tacx) added another to his list of 2016 victories when he took victory in the Watford Velo Sport 14-mile time trial staged on the HCC212 course near Great Hampden in Buckinghamshire on Sunday.

The 41-year-old covered the course in 36.57 to take the win by just over a minute from Richard Wood (TMG Horizon CT), while Richard Gildea (Didcot Phoenix CC) was third, another 28 seconds off the pace.

Top junior was the promoting club’s Jamie Wimborne (Watford Velo Sport) with 41.19, while the pick of the women was Jody Conibear (Hemel Hempstead CC) with 47.04, which gave her the category win by 2-50 from team-mate Zoe Adams.

Among Axford’s 2016 performances are victory in the Oxonian CC 36 last week where he also broke the course record, and a win in the Maidenhead and District hilly 30-mile event last month. He also placed second in the Hemel Hempstead hilly 21.5 on March 20.
