Steven Sage (Tanks Direct Cycling) proved victorious in the St Budeaux CC sporting 15.6-mile time trial in Cornwall on Sunday.
The 41-year-old covered the S46/16s course near Kelly Bray in 37.41 to win by 46 seconds from Philip Bray (Plymouth Corinthian CC), while Jason McGowan (St Austell Wheelers) was third, another two seconds off the pace, after finishing 1-30 slower than his time in the 2015 event, where he placed second.
For Sage, it was the latest in a string of good performances as he makes the most of form which saw him take victory in the Plymouth Corinthian hilly 13 in February, as well as placing second in St Austell Wheelers’ 20-mile event early last month and third in Tavistock Wheelers’ 25-mile TT three weeks ago.
With headquarters at Golberdon Village Hall, the course took riders from the start just north of Kelly Bray and out on the B3257, turning just before the A30 and retracing.
