Prolific time trial winner Dean Robson (No Pinz) added another victory to his list of 2016 wins when he stormed to victory in the Bath CC 24, staged near Maiden Bradley in Wiltshire.
The 29-year-old from Taunton covered the circular course just south of Longleat in 56.49 to take the win by almost two minutes. David Janes (VC Walcot) clocked 58.30 for second, while 58.43 was good enough to give Matthew Griffin (Cycology Bikes) third spot.
The promoting Bath CC won the team prize with the winning trio being Simon Ker, Steven Cottington and Ruan Bester, while the first female was Jenny Lee (Yeovil CC) with 1:09.43.
As well as helping make up the winning team, Steve Cottington (Bath CC) was also the fastest veteran with 1:00.46, while the prize for best veteran on age standard went to Rick Johnston (Northover VT) with a plus of 6.18.
The day started windy and gradually got a little worse, but as ever it seemed not to affect the fast riders. Few riders usually manage to go under the hour on this course, so it was impressive to see six do just that given the wind.
Among Robson’s victories this season are last week’s Cheltenham and County CC 22, the VC Sevale 10, Mid-Devon CC 23, the University of Bristol 10, Wrekinsport CC 18 and the Lanhydrock Wheelers 22, while he was also third in the opening round of the RTTC Classic Series on March 20.
