RIDERS’ NOTES
The A420 is a clearway and no parking is permitted on this road or on its verges, but there are several lay-bys along it.
The course is a mixture of single and dual carriageway with traffic limited to 50 mph on all the single carriageway stretches.
The start can best be reached either by carefully crossing the A420 at the Longworth crossroads and climbing the hill towards Longworth to turn left through Hinton Waldrist village and down to the start or by going east through Kingston Bagpuize, left at the mini roundabout at the east end of the village onto to the A415 and straight across the A420 at the roundabout to take the first left off the A415 through Longworth and Hinton Waldrist.
There is no right turn lane into the start lane from the A420 westbound and that route should not be attempted.
Riders crossing A420 to the start must take great care not impede riders on the course. After finishing, riders should continue westwards on A420 to the Longworth Charney Basset crossroads and turn left at the Southmoor roundabout to the Headquarters.
Chris Hart
Chris took on the job of District Secretary towards the end of 2007 and quite quickly demonstrated what an administrative talent the District had been hiding for so many years. His was a comparatively short span but possibly the most memorable.
His contribution included the successful introduction of and amendment to some of the Rules and Regulations of Cycling Time Trials, a feat that those who had tried before can testify could not be achieved without persistence, and the ability to argue the case, sometimes for years!
Chris was a time triallist for 56 years and it was only after his sad departure that the London West Committee discovered what a valuable servant to the District he had become. We miss him still. This is the third of these memorial events and they serve to remind us all of those whose dedication is responsible for the existence of sport and pastimes
