The HQ at Wolvey School will be open from 12:30pm. Parking is to the rear in the playground - spaces at the side of the school will be reserved for event officials. We have a very large event this year so please park considerately. There may be a match at the adjacent cricket ground so please don't park elsewhere.
Numbers will be issued at the HQ only when competitors have signed on. Exchange your number for a free drink after your ride.
It is approximately a mile and a half from the HQ through Wolvey to the start. Please allow sufficient time to be ready for the start timekeeper. There may be temporary traffic lights on Mill Lane so it is best to ride via the Axe and Compass roundabout.
Cycling Time Trials recommend that a hard shell helmet meeting a recognised International Standard is worn - this is compulsory for U18s. Read Regulation 15 in its entirety. CTT also advise that a flashing rear light be fitted to all machines.
Please note this is an open (Type A) event and as such sleeveless tops are not permitted (Regulation 16) - "sleeves shall be at least mid upper arm length".
Supporters and vehicles - for the benefit of newcomers, if your friends and family want to watch you race, please ensure that any vehicles involved are parked considerately off the course and remain parked for the duration of your ride. Any vehicles on the course, particularly following or overtaking, may be regarded as an assisting vehicle and leave you liable to disqualification.
Handicaps have been set according to CTT charts on the basis of last year performance and other information where appropriate.
Veterans' standard times are using the revised 2013 VTTA tables.
I hope everyone enjoys this Coventry CC promotion and will enter other events of ours in future. As organiser I get far too much of the credit if things go well, so please thank some of the event's many helpers if you enjoyed it. If things weren’t to your satisfaction, speak to me so we can get things better for future events.
Please note - the turn roundabout has five roads, not four. It is tempting to take the turning immediately after the A5 but this leads to Pailton which is best left for another day. Our marshals will do their best to direct all on the correct route back towards Wolvey.
The coarse road surface on the eastern half of the course gets smoother each year with the benefit of a further 12 months of traffic. Most potholes have been well repaired. As you approach the turn, the extreme right of the road has a longitudinal rut but this is further across than you need to ride. We will do our best to mark any hazards and advise riders - looking ahead is the best prevention.
