Description

General

This time trial is the South District Council’s round of the National Youth Championships (Formally GHS Championships).  This Championship is unique in that competitors need not be members of affiliated clubs as they can ride in the name of their school. Regional competitions take place with winners going forward to the National event.

Event date & time: Thursday 22nd June -first rider off at 7.32 pm.

Age Category – boys and girls

Upper age limit: under 17 years of age on 31st August 2017.

Lower age limit: officially the minimum age is twelve on the date of the event. This is rather low for a rider to go out onto the open road unsupervised. This is very much down to parental judgement.

Parental consent form required for all riders.

Course

The course is 10km (6.2 miles) and passes through Funtington and finishes in West Stoke. The course is “sporting”, starts off flat followed by some gentle drags towards the back end of the ride.

Course record: none – first use of this course.

Event Headquarters

West stoke village Hall near Chichester. Parking is limited at the Hall but additional parking is available along the grass verge heading West along Downs Road. 

Awards

Free entry to National Youth Championships final for: -

Boys and girls 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall

Fastest boy and girl in each age category - 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16

Fastest team of three riding either for their school or affiliated club.

All finishers - commemorative medal & certificate.
